The Post Where Everything Happens

Yeah right....I have no idea what to blog about :/

No wait! I DO have something to blog about.

The Ride Snowboard Art Contest is ending tomorrow. The top 30 designs will be announced tomorrow!!! I am so excited to hear how my designs fared in the competition. For those of you that want to see my designs click here. Just scroll down to the bottom of the post to see the designs.

Another thing I have been doing is designing different outfits for Eldra's characters (see the same post as the snowboard design). If there is one thing I am really bad at drawing, it is full body pictures. I really cannot do them. Once I get the main concept than I have an easier time. But as for creating someone standing/leaning up against a wall is way over my head. That is why I use models.
I go to websites that have different articles of clothing on a model. Wedding dress websites are my favorite because of the style of pictures. The ones I went to (and got tons of material) was Bridal and Beyond, and Bella's Brides. The pictures there are pretty big and usually decent quality. They are bridal dress, yes (meaning a huge skirt that is hard to work with) but most are usuable

Switching from dresses to sports

Me, my younger brother, and my Dad went snowboarding this past Friday and I had a pretty nasty time.
First, I get to the top of my favorite run and find out that a major screw is missing from my bindings. I have to snowboard down this 8 minute run, buy a new screw in the rental shop, screw it back together, than meet my snowboard instructor for my last lesson. Luckily my teacher is a personal friend of mine and helped me out.
Than later on, my brother and I go on a run we haven't gone on before. Exciting...but not smart. I end up running right into a ice wall and smashed my knee. I got fed up with the run and exited onto a familiar trail. My brother decides to take me down this narrow tree trail that ends with this 2 foot jump. Yup. You can guess what happens. When I take the jump my board twists and I didn't have enough time to shift it back. I body slam - face first - into the hard packed run. I gave up on the day after that, coming home with a bruised hip & knee. And it is at times like that that make me wonder why I even go boarding....:) jk

Sticking with the sports theme here. Lets talk hockey. Talky Hock as one announcer once put it

With the All*Star game coming up I am disappointed that three major players wont be attending the game. Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames is out because of his family, Evgeni Malkin (Pittsburgh Penguins) is out with a injured knee/sinus infection, and Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh Penguins) is out with lingering affects from his first concussion. The All*Star game has become the Most*Star game.

I haven't really been in an artsy mode recently, as you can tell from the lack of posting. I really haven't had any inspiration to do anything recently. No dogs, no cats, no horses, no people...just...nothing. I NEED INSPIRATION BADLY!!! :'( lol

That is all for now. Hopefully my next post will be more enjoyable

WO-can I stop now?

OK for those of you that saw my last post, I was going to see TRON: Legacy in theaters. Well it was GREAT! *Sighs happily* It was a great movie. One of the best in animation. Hehe, trust me to judge the movie on how the animation looks... :)
I don't really have much to say, surprisingly. The only thing I have to complain about is the zen thing. OTHER THAN THAT, it was amazing....
Signed with a WOW! - Leauphaun maybe I might....

As the title says....I just might...juuuust might....maybe...GO SEE TRON IN THEATERS!!!

Ok, so maybe my whole family is going as well. That means that my Dad and sister will have seen it twice. TWICE! twice, that is how good it is. And for those of you that really (personally) know me, I do not watch many movies. The most recent "new" thing I have watched is UP: A Pixar movie. And that was 3 days ago. That is how long it took me to actually pick it up. So I am not one to rave about the latest movie. That is why I am so excited about seeing TRON!
Anyhoo... *sighs* that is all the time I have to babble....sorry

Way too many thing to blog about

Honestly, there ARE too many things to blog about
So many that I can't think of any :/ :)
Ok so the first thing is the TRON Legacy. I am REALLY into TRON right now, even though I haven't seen it yet, since I am waiting for it to come out on DVD before I watch it. Ya know, with the whole 3D thing...that is why I am waiting (I DON'T LIKE 3D)
My sister, Eldra, on the other hand, went and saw it in theaters with my dad and a friend and she reallllly liked it. That got me even more hyper about it and produced a scratch-art piece within a few hours. Unfortunately, the background was white instead of being green/blue/yellow/red. But I really liked how it turned out. That is why I am going to go to my local art store and get more of these scratch-art thingies.

I will do a drawing of Sam (the MC), Quorra, and possibly Gem, along with more lightcycles!I also need to draw more Star Wars/LOTR characters, so please tell me what you guys want
Going along with the TRON theme here, I bought the whole soundtrack of TRON. Done by Daft Punk, teaming up with Hans Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Williams for the score of the film. I think that this is my favorite soundtrack ever, next to Lord of the Rings.

On a whole different note, I whipped up these two dress for my sister's story

It is a tan brown dress (dark brown lining), with a type of flexible metal belt and arm bands. This is Eldra, so her hair is floor length and red. More of a casual dress

This dress is more formal.
Lightish blue, with dark blue triangles, and one dark blue sleeve (her left one)
The sleeves wrap around her arm and fasten to her fourth finger.
Her hair is done up in a bun (yes, I know, her hair would be way larger but Eldra is making it so that we can cheat and give her hairstyles that would never work with her floor length hair) Like her bun is what, 5-6 inches across? In reality, the bun would be MASSIVE!

Working on Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0 has been a BLAST! The program has been so much fun with editing photos. My favorite feature is the Healing tool. What I does is....well I'll just show you.

Previous picture (with the snowboarder) (Copyright by Big White)

Using the Healing Tool (Copyright by Big White)

So what it does is you take the tool (basically a brush) click once, and outline the thing you want to remove. Fill that in, without letting the mouse go, then let go of the left mouse button. It then takes the surrounding area and fills in the space you selected to make it appear as if there was nothing there to begin with. Sometimes it doesn't work, and it gets really weird but most of the time it works really well.

On the snowboarding note, I entered into a snowboard design contest not that long ago. Here are my designs
My Fire design

And my Elk Design (inspired by a snowboard/hunter friend)

The contest is by Ride Snowboards. The contest is closed for entries but the judging isn't till later this month. The winners wont be announced till the beginning of February. The prizes are the coolest. The 1st place person will win $1000, plus their own design on a snowboard (yes they get to keep the snowboard). 2nd place will win $500 and a pair of Ride Bindings. 3rd place will win$300 and a pair of Ride Boots, and 4th place will win $200 and a Ride Jacket and Pant Combo. So even if I win 4th place, 200 dollars and a jacket-pant combo is really good.

Anyhoo that is all that I can think of blogging about so cya later
